Chlorine is one kind of harmful trace elements in coal. The process of coal and waste plastics co-pyrolysis was put forward to treat waste plastics. Because PVC plastics are abundant in chlorine, the problem caused by chlorine shouldn't be ignored during co-pyrolysis Therefore investigating chlorine transformation rules during coal combustion and coal and PVC co-pyrolysis is instructive to study chlorine pollution prevention methods and co-pyrolysis process industrialization application. This paper built the combustion-hydrolysis apparatus to determine chlorine in coal according to national standard. And do some improvements in some steps to raise the accuracy of results. A 10g coal fixed-bed pyroiysis and gasfication apparatus was built Coal and different proportion PVC were put in the pyroiysis furnace, and the products were collected in which the chlorine content were determined. This paper analyzed PVC addition, pyroiysis temperature and heat rates how to affect products yields and chlorine emission in pyroiysis process. The chlorine emission of coal and coke was carried out in the combustion apparatus. The emission curves of chlorine in coke were obtained to analyze the relation with pyroiysis temperature and PVC addition. In addition, the chlorine emission during coke heated through TG curve and MS and several cokes were analyzed by FTIR. The relation between chlorine occurrence modes in coke and pyroiysis temperature was analyzed. The experiment results indicate that the chlorine emission characteristics are similar with the early study results. With the PVC addition increasing the yields of coke and tar raise, the chlorine content in products increases. High temperature pyroiysis can reduce the chlorine content in products. When coke is heated or combusted the chlorine emission has an obvious relation with pyroiysis temperature. The chlorine in the coke under low temperature pyroiysis releases quickly and increases with PVC addition rising. There isn't so obvious trend in the coke of high temperature pyrolysis. The temperature that the coke begins to loss weight is near to the pyroiysis temperature. FTIR curves indicate there is still C-Cl absorption peak in the coke in low temperature, while in the coke of high temperature there is not.
