Preparation Of Polymer Brush On PMMA Microgels By Surface-Initiated ATRP

In the present dissertation, controlled grafting polymerization of styrene, methyl methacrylate (MMA), tert-butyl acrylate (tBA) by atom transfer radical polymerization from cross-linked poly(methyl methacrylate) microgel were carried out. A serious of polymer brushes were obtained.In the first part of this dissertation, α-bromoisobutyl acyl bromide was synthesized by reacting bromine with isobutyric acid and purified by column chromatogram; 2-(α-bromoisobutyryl) ethyl methacrylate (BIBEMA) was synthesized by reacting α-bromoisobutyl acyl bromide with 2-hydroxylethyl methacrylate.
