Ammonia was synthesized from nitrogen and hydrogen/natural gas at atmospheric pressure in a solid state proton conducting cell reactor in this paper, which includes two parts: review section and experimental section. In review section, the latest striking developments in the study of high-temperature proton conductors and intermediate or low temperature proton conductors are presented in this paper, a brief overview is given of the types and proton conductivity of high-temperature solid state protonic conductors, and their application, prospects and progress are summarized. Being major subject, intermediate and low temperature proton conductors are reviewed concerning their structure properties, conductivities, conduction mechanism as well as the study status. The present paper describes basic principles of dominant process and some of the more recent investigations of synthesizing ammonia, with emphasis on the experience and principle of synthesizing ammonia at atmospheric pressure with the use of solid state electrolyte electrochemically. Using these proton conductors as solid electrolyte, ammonia was synthesized not only from hydrogen and nitrogen but also natural gas and nitrogen at atmospheric pressure in the solid-state proton conducting cell reactor. At the same time, the hydrocarbon reaction products of the...
