The application of durable antimicrobial agents to textiles, is a topic worthy of research deeply.In this work, a series of antimicrobial agents containing the hydantoin structure such as AM, BM and AM-AN, were synthesized by changing the reaction conditions such as temperature, time, concentration of initiator and so on, and the N-halamine structure which possessed the ability of durable antimicrobial, was transformed through a chlorination process. Meanwhile, the physical properties and the structures of these products were investigated and characterized by FT-IR and DTA.Moreover, a kind of organic/ inorganic nano-antimicrobial was also made, and the particle diameters and the part compatibility were studies by TEM and Laser Diffraction Particle Size Analysis.On the basis of above studies, the antimicrobial agents were applied to kinds of fibers by grafting process or pad-dry-curing process. Fibers were chemically modified by grafting with antimicrobial agents in the water system or emulsion system. The influences of the concentration of initiator, the concentration of monomer, bath ratio, temperature, time, the concentration of salt on the weighting percentage of fabric were discussed, and the conditions of graft process were found. Then the structures and dyeing abilities of treated fibers were investigated, and the antimicrobial activities were examined.
