| The high purity and ultrafine spinel powders are mainly used in some high and new technology industries field such as artificial crystal, transparent ceramics, refractory and so on. Since some traditional methods to prepare the spinel powders that adopted possess the disadvantages that many performance index of powers can't meet the requirement, whose applications are limited. The Sol-gel method to prepare spinel powders in this paper has the advantages that the temperature of forming phase is low, chemical reaction is easily controlled, with high purity, small granularity and good uniformity of powders. The performances of the samples have been investigated by IR, XRD, TEM, GSL etc.The results show that n-butanol was suitable for preparation of double alkoxides and molar ratio of Mg:Al =1:2. The high purity powders could be prepared from ouble alkoxides which adopted n-butanol as reactant by the method of vacuum distillation with 10mmHg and 354℃. The property and hydrolyzing mechanism of magnesium aluminium double alkoxides were discussed. Through controlling all kind of factors which affected the performance of the powders, such as the concentration of the double metal alkoxides, the hydrolyzing temperature, the amount of water, the speed of adding water, the adding of chelator, some single factor experiments had been done. Then the production was dried by different methods, and microwave drying got the advantage of high efficiency and small granularity. The spinel phase occurred while calcined at 800℃, while the perfect spinel phase was formed at 1200℃.The results above are significant to research and exploit the high purity and ultrafine spinel powders. |
