For the high chemically activity of titanium, the interface reactions occur between titanium alloys and nearly all the mold material. The high chemical activity of titanium is the main factor that affects the properties and quality of titanium alloy castings, which limited the wide application. In this paper, the interface reactions have been investigated with the numerical simulation. Experiments also have been carried out.Under the gravitational fields, the physical and numerical simulation model of interface reaction for Ti based alloy had been built up. The above model coupled with chemical reaction, temperature field and concentration field. And the thickness of reaction layer had been simulated in different processing parameters (contact time, molding temperature, preheat temperature and Al alloy) by the model. The results show that the above three processing parameters all affect the thickness of reaction layer. The preheat temperature and Al concentration are the main effect factor.Under the electromagnetic field, the physical and numerical simulation model interface reaction for Ti based alloy had been built up. The model coupled with chemical reaction, temperature field, concentration field and electromagnetic field. And the thickness of reaction layer has been simulated in the processing parameters of the gravitational field by the model. And it shows a similar result with that of the gravitational field. But compared with under the gravitational field, the interfacial reaction under the electromagnetic field is intense because the electromagnetic field affects intensely the alloy melt.On the base of numerical simulation, the interface reactions between titanium based alloys and ceramic mold were investigated under the gravitational field and the electromagnetic field with SEM and Energy Spectrum Analysis. The process and mechanism of interface reaction were analyzed deeply. Finally, the simulation result of the interface reaction of titanium based alloy and ceramic mold under the gravitational field and the electromagnetic field had been investigated in the experiments. And the results show that the simulation results are in good agreement with the experiment results, which verify the...
