In this paper, pulsed laser deposition (PLD) was used to deposit YBCO on different single crystal and textured polycrystal substrates with different orientations. Depositing conditions such as were studied systematically.YBCO films were deposited directly on Ag substrates using PLD. It is shown that the texture of substrates have great influence on the texture of YBCO films. In addition, YBCO films were deposited on STO single crystal and NiW alloy substrates with buffer layers. From the contrast among YBCO deposited on different substrates, we found the appropriate substrates for films growth.After deposited YBCO films on (100),(110) and (111) Ag single crystal, the epitaxial relationship between YBCO films and Ag single crystal substrates has been gotten: that is [100]YBCO or [010]YBCO//<110>Ag, or [100]YBCO or [010]YBCO//<100>Ag, (00L)YBCO is parallel to Ag surface. (110) Ag single crystal is more suitable than (100) and (111) for epitaxial growth of YBCO films.The epitaxial relationships of YBCO films deposited on polycrystal Ag substrates are also obtained. YBCO films deposited on {110}<110> textured Ag substrates have stronger textured and weak microstrain with substrates. It shown that {110}<110> textured Ag substrates is more suitable for growth of YBCO films. Finally, YBCO films were deposited with PLD on (100) textured STO single crystal and NiW alloys substrates with {100}<110> textured CeO2. Epitaxial relationship and microcosmic structures of YBCO films were studied.
