The paper discussed how to get the mixed microstructure which was mainly Bainite after the casting of gray cast iron by controlling the cooling rate after moulding. The temperature field of centrifugal casting, the process of austepering and cooling in air were simulated by using ANSYS FEA software. The paper obtained the best procedure which was to open the cylinder at 700s and then austemper the cast based on the analysis of the temperature field of the cooling process of the casting. The above study provides a reference to the producing of the Bainite gray cast iron cylinder. The main conclusions are as follows:1. Based on the systemic study of the austempering process of grey cast iron, the mixed microstructure which was mainly Bainite with gray cast iron could be got through the following steps as the experiment offered in the paper. Firstly, the grey cast iron was kept heat preservation at 860°C for 2h, and then was austemped in brine at 300°C for 1.5h. The hardness and impact toughness both improved evidently. The hardness improved from HV96 to HV196, and meanwhile the impact toughness improved from 1.069J/cm~2to 3.452J/cm~2.2. Based on the comparing study of the austempering process directly after...
