As a sort of rising material, alkaline adhesive material has many advantages such as high intensity, corrosion prevention, impermeability, freeze-resistance and fire-resistance, etc. It can be used to replace Portland cement in some applications. All kinds of slag from aluminous silicate industries can be used as the major ingredients of alkaline adhesive material. This way is in accord with scientific development principle, and in accord with our national policies of boosting economy circulation, constructing resource saving society and continuous development. This paper reviews the research progress and problems of ordinary alkaline adhesive materials, and puts forward the alkaline slag-fly ash-calcined clay system.Reactive mechanism of this material was studied by the method of IR because its reactants and products all were amorphous materials. The structure changes between reactants and products were analyzed by determining the Si-O and Al-O absorption, and compressive strength of product was studied to confirm the conclusion. The slag has high activity when activated by water glass in experiment. The IR spectrum showed that the Si-O tetrahedron presented all kinds of configuration, and aluminum may replace silicon to form Al-O tetrahedron. Fly ash release little fraction of silicon when activated by water glass, and the IR spectrum showed that its Si-O tetrahedron presented high intensive frame configuration. The active component of calcined clay is metakaolinite, and the IR showed its Si-O tetrahedron presented to be quartz due to its low...
