Modern engineering design is transformed from traditional data and materials intensively to information and knowledge intensively, impelled by the fast development of computer. Development of collaborative design system based on knowledge can utilize existing resource and expert experience completely, offer powerful support to design process, optimize products and its developing course constantly, lead designer to carry on the design activity of the products.From the view of the Knowledge-Based Engineer, collaborative design and product development process management, on the base of analyzing the status of knowledge management, knowledge utilization, the requirement analysis for current system is carried through. Through research on design reuse and Case-Based Reasoning, modeling method based on product development process model reuse is presented and described in detail. Content and reality method of CAD-oriented process management is presented through research of model instance and activity states. System structure and pivotal technology of building web-based standard part design system orient to collaborative design is researched.On the basis of theory research, the integrated scheme of knowledge-based collaborative design system is designed, and is realized in the light of some models such as knowledge-based model reuse, CAD-oriented process management, standard part design system, combining with .NET Framework and Pro/engineer redevelopment technology. System is validated with plastic mold design process, the result is satisfactory and the innovation and practicability is validated.
