Zirconia ceramics were paid great attention to the material scientific workers in the field of the function material and structural material all over the world, for their excellent properties, such as high melting point, corrosion-resistant, wear-resisting decreasing , low heat conduction. But the development of ceramics was limited because the phase transformation of zirconia. So zirconia ceramics were mixed with some high modulus of elasticily compound, such as Al2O3, SiC, Mullite, etc. Thus, the properties of composites at elevated temperature were improved and zirconia matrix ceramic composites with high strength and toughness were prepared. In this paper, base of ZrO2-Al2O3 ceramic composites, study on the preparation of composite powder, the rheological behaviors of ZrO2-Al2O3 ceramic composites slurry and the influence of ZrO2-Al2O3 ceramic composites prepared by wet-press process and gelcasting. The high-performance zirconia matrix ceramic composites were prepared by study scientifically.ZrO2—Al2O3 ceramic composite powders were prepared by two method, direct physical mix and heterogeneous precipitation process. And the application of heterogeneous precipitation process in preparing of ZrO2-Al2O3 ceramic composite powders was stressed. ZrO2-Al2O3 ceramic composite powders prepared by heterogeneous precipitation process were studied, the result show that: at optimum heat treatment system as 250℃,300℃ for 30min respectively, solstice 1050℃ for 2h, and optimum ball-milling time for 4h, the average particle size of ZrO2-Al2O3 composite powders were 0.35 μm.ZrO2-Al2O3 ceramic composite powders prepared by above two method were molded by dry pressing.
