| Using injection method, the superheating limits of ten systems of binary hydrocarbon mixtures (alkene and alkane or between alkene), which have not been reported, were measured at normal pressure in this thesis. In the theoretical part, the equations to predict the superheating limits of binary hydrocarbon mixtures were derived on the basis of thermodynamics and kinetics. For the thermodynamic theory, RK equation was chosen to derive the superheating limits. The experimental results had good agreement with the calculated thermodynamic superheating limits. For the kinetic theory, two important parameters, i.e. surface tension (γ) and vaporization pressure (pV) of the mixture were necessary to calculate the superheating limits. Using the equations of surface tension ,vaporization pressure and kinetic superheating limits, the calculated kinetic superheating limits agreed well with the experimental results for most binary mixtures. |
