Plunge milling is called Z axis milling.it can rapidly remove large quantity of material,it's one of efficiency methods in milling.it's fit surface milling of hard materials,Slot Milling and machining when the tool length longer . Plunge milling is more efficiency than end milling in usual used.The application of Plunge Milling technique is becoming extensive due to its unique characteristics and theoretical maturing in recent years.Titanium Alloy is a new kind of mental,it has good mechanical strength,high toughness and be able to bear seawater and alkali erodent . it has't brittleness when the temperature low ,capability of weld,it's good material for building ship. So Titanium Alloy is wildly used in aviation and shipbuilding. Titanium Alloy is difficult to milling for it's physical characteristic.it's a kind of hard machining material. So we select Ti-6Al-4V Titanium Alloy for our test part in our reaserch,in order to find the tool's character in plung milling. We construct the hardware platform in the test,and select four kinds of plunge milling tool.we used these tools in the plungmilling test and the part material is Ti-6Al-4V.The Collection and Analysis system are Base on the software LabView(Random data collection, time frequency analysis and data pre-processing etc,that is it's main functions). the cutting force,cutting temperature and cutting vibration were collected by the platform in the test. and the data is analysised by the analysis system.the regulation that cutting force,cutting temperature and cutting vibration changed when the cutting parameter difference is researched.the mathematical model of cutting force is built.the plunge milling tool's character is found by the research results.Used the theory of Fuzzy in mathematical ,We get the Fuzzy Comprehensive Evaluation conclusion of the four kinds tools depend on the results of the test and the advice of experts.the results of this test and the Fuzzy Comprehensive Evaluation conclusion is benefit to the plunge milling,tools select and cutting parameters.
