A welding process general controller has been designed and developed based on the high-speed imbeded AVR microcomputer ATmega128. In the same controller, different control requirements of different automatic welding equipments can be met by using different programs.Universality and kinds of anti-interference measures were considered when designing the control circuit in modules. 3 set of conditions are able to change by using the welding conditions control module. The welding variables adjusting and displaying control module only has 5 light emitting diodes and 4 keys, but as many as 18 variables can be adjusted and displayed. Servo-motors and stepper motors and their cooperation motion were controlled by the electric motor control module.The modules also include position signal control, A/D conversion control, communication control and output signal control.The PCB board and its software design has been accomplished with prote199se and CVAVR. Every module has been tested by different program.It approves that the controller runs stably and well. Three types of control can be realized in the controller. They are constant value control, servo-motor and stepper motor motion trace control and welding process working procedure control.Several motors can be controlled at the same time by the general controller when it is used as the radiator special welding machine controller. Thereinto the wig-wag is drived by the step motor. Time stay in the middle and the ends as well as the jigging motion speed and width of the wig-wag can be adjusted by the general controller. The wig-wag waggles accurately and stably. The welding procedure control and the welding variables adjustment all have been digitized. The program was mainly composed of condition sentences and interruption form to fit for the movement relations of many devices.
