In this paper, preparation of phenylthiophene and its polymer is studied by the organic syntheis—Grignard coupling method. We test 3- phenylthiophene and its polymer by the following methods: Infrared spectroscopy ,Ultraviolet spectra , Nuclear magnetic resonance , elementary analysis. The characteristic peaks of thiophene ring, benzene ring and C-H bond in the benzene ring are distinct in the Infrared spectroscopy; and Ultraviolet spectra show the conjugate properties of the products, Nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy show the distinct peaks of Hydrogen in benzene ring and thiophene ring, elementary analysis show experimental results are approximate to theoretical values ,the error is comparatively low. In the research on fluorescence spectroscopy of polymer, the states of liquid and solid excited owing to absorbing the strongest wavelength light show distinct fluorescence properties. Finally we conclude that the compound synthesized is poly(3- phenylthiophene) by experimental results and various data ,and can see fluorescence properties of polymer in the figure of fluorescence spectroscopy of polymer.
