| With the rapid development of petrochemical industry and the wide use of petroleum products, the environment pollution brought by petroleum tend to be more and more serious. The oil falls to ground and forms failed oil , which is frequently happened by oil leakage caused by improper operation or accident during oil exploration, extraction, storage, transport and usage. The damage of falling oil is not only energy sources reduction, but also environment pollution especially soil contamination. There are many methods for dealing with this kind of oily-contaminated soil, and each of them has their own advantage and disadvantage. Bentonite, which is abundant in reserves and low in price, has larger specific surface area and higher capability of adsorption. So bentonite could be selected as sorbent to adsorb and reclaim failed oil.In this study, Ca-bentonite powder, Ca-bentonite grain, Na-bentonite powder and Na-bentonite grain were selected as sorbents. Their capability of absorbing and reclaiming was evaluated by studying their absorptivity and reclaim rate for engine oil and kerosene. The performance of their reuse was evaluated by analyzing the variation of oil absorptivity and reclaim rate when reuse these sorbents. The mechanisms of their absorption and desorption ability was studied by SEM, BET and FT-IR.The results showed that the oil quality didn't change before and after reclaim from oily soil, so it is feasible to reclaim failed oil with bentonite. These bentonite materials have high capability of absorption and reclaim. The results highlighted the effects of bentonite forms (granular and powdered), that the powder bentonite has higher absorption capability than grain bentonite, conversely, it has lower reclaim capability. A comparison of various types of bentonite showed that the capability of absorption and reclaim of Na-bentonite was higher than Ca-bentonite. Grain sorbent has better reuse... |
