Silicone rubber were provided with the excellent insulation properties and flexibility in the electric systems for all kinds of insulation applications, and the hotspots in researching had been contracted for processing cold shrinkable materials in the applications to the markets. However, the characterization of the silicone rubber cold shrinkable Materials for various properties, are yet to be reported now. The all kinds characterization of the silicone rubber cold shrinkable tubing was investigated in this dissertation. And the research has filled the gaps in this field of the silicone rubber research.In this dissertation, the sequence for the testing had been established according to conventional standard test methods for the rubber materials designed. Four silicone rubbers preparation, and selecting for formulation systems, and the tensile properties of various silicone rubbers, density, hardness, corrosion resistance, volume resistance, and dielectric constant, the breakdown strength, CTI index, arc resistance, heat aging properties, weathering and aging, TG diagram determination with the heating programs, shrinkage ratios, permanent deformation, longitudinal shrinkage, and more than ten properties were characterized. Silicone rubber cracking pilot project also were researched on sever aspects on this thesis.Via aspects of the comprehensive performance by testing, we give a series of the fundamental data, and it can be used to directing the development of R&D in industries. And qualitatively consultations as the performance difference had been explained for solid silicone rubber and liquid silicone rubber in different test conditions.
