With a combination of excellent chemical stability, mechanical properties, high temperature oxidation resistance, and thermal shock resistance, porous ceramics have been widely used in many areas, such as biomaterial, catalyst supports, filters, heat exchangers and so on.In this dissertation a lot of methods about making porous ceramics, including sol-gel process, polymeric sponge impregnation process, addition pore-forming material process, extrusion process were introduced.The preparation method of porous ceramics is Reaction Bonding of Aluminum Oxide. The basis of materials are coal ash, CaCO3, Al and some hole makings, sinter temperature from 1000°C~1400°C to prepare porous ceramics with certain strengths and porosities.The microstructure was investigated by scanning electron microscopy, TG-DTA methods and X-ray diffraction. The properties were measured of porous ceramics.The poresize of porous ceramics are between 80~150nm, the compressure strengths are about 56.6~76.3 MPa.
