The history of upconversion luminescence, recent progress and future prospect were reviewed in this dissertation. On the basis of them, three kinds of upconversion luminescence nano-powders which were YVO4:Yb3+,Er3+ , SrMoO4:Yb3+,Er3+ and Y2O3:Yb3+,Er3+ were firstly and successfully prepared by Sol-gel method.The influences that ratios of Yb3+ ions to Er3+ ions on the upconversion luminescent intensity were discussed, so the best proportions were also determined accordingly. In addition, the effects that calcined temperature has on the crystal grown, material size and luminescence intensity were analyzed .The best calcined temperature was also determined.These three kinds of upconversion luminescence nano-powders were characterized by TG-DTA, XRD, TEM, Emission spectroscopy. Through studying TG-DTA curves, the roasted processes of samples were determined. Through XRD analyzing, the crystal form and grain sizes of samples were also confirmed. Furthermore, the grain sizes of these nano-powders were proofed by TEM. At room temperature, by using 980nm laser to excited these three kinds of samples, intense emissions were observed with bare eyes. In addition, the dependences of pump power on luminescent intensity were investigated so as to determine the emission processes of photons, and the mechanisms of the upconversion luminescence were also discussed.
