Furoic acid, whose IUPAC name isα-furan formic acid, is valuable intermediates of organic synthesis, is used in pesticides, medicines and so on, Flavors whose raw are furoic acid are one of most important flavor industries , The needs of furoic acid was very tremendous. The methods of synthesizing furoic acid are various. Such as catalysed oxidation with copper oxide, oxidation with silver oxide or potassium permanganate (potassium dichromate) and Cannizzaro etc. The present oxidation methods have some disadvantage, the electrooxidation is promised to be a prospective way to synthesize furoic acid.Jilin province is a major agricultural province. It can be said abundant raw materials in the production of furfural. We have advantages of furfural export than any of the other provinces and broad space for development. At present furfural production as few rural industries in the province bringing huge benefits to the county which as a certain scale and profit, Township industry has become an important pillar of the province. However, due to technical and financial constraints, to date, the majority of furfural wastewater plants will not achieve long-term stability standards and cause serious environmental pollution. Therefore, to explore a practical and efficient in line with China's national conditions of furfural new wastewater treatment process is very necessary. Furfural industry's survival and healthy development of national economy and sustainable development are of great practical significance.By determination of the cyclic voltammetry, the different electrode materials of the catalytic activity for furfural electro-oxidation were explored. By determination of the polarization curves and electrolysis experiment, the electrolytic conditions were explored. Effect of the concentration of sodium hydroxide, the concentration furoic acid, current density and reaction temperature on the selectivity and the current efficiency were explored. The optimum conditions were determined. The optimum conditions were NaOH0.1mol/L, current density 0.8mA/cm2, furoic acid 0.1mol/L, temperature 25℃. Under optimum conditions the current efficiency and selectivity for synthesis of furoic acid might reach 54% and 82%.The electrolytic solution was quantitatively analyzed by HPLC (High Performance Liquid Chromatograph) method. Proper column condition was found. The analysis results were highly accurate and reliable. The problem of excessive inorganic salts interfering analysis results was overcome. At last, the obtained furoic acid product was characterized by HPLC, elemental analysis, IR spectrum ect.Using efficient adsorption, filters, electrodialysis and many other physical and chemical technologies, the optimized combination of techniques were established. After filtration, adsorption and furfural wastewater reached the standard of electrodialysis. Electrodialysis process of the impact factors such as material flow, voltage, current density limit were studied. The optimum conditions were material flow 1L/h, voltage 25V, room temperature. The power consumption is 19kwh/t, the concentration of 0.02% acetic acid drainage around the outside. Wastewater utilization rate is more than 90%, the analysis of various indicators of external drainage which PH=5 COD<1000 COD purification rate of more than 92% while 10% of the concentration of acetic acid has been concentrated. For preparation of further industrial acid or acetic acid and other products, this saves energy and also eliminates pollution.The study results demonstrated that it was a good method that furoic acid was synthesized from furfual by the electrooxidation method. The conditions were mild and the operation was easy, the selectivity and the current efficiency were high, the cost low and free from pollution, therefore its application will be promising.Furfural wastewater treatment process is in line with China's national conditions, Furfural industry's survival and healthy development of national economy and sustainable development are of great practical significance.
