| As the high specific energy consumption is the primary disadvantage of electrochemical ozone production and the key influencing factor is the electrocatalytic activity of the anode, the research on new electrodes and preparation condition of the electrodes are primary task to solve the problem. In this paper, a comprehensive description of recent research on the study and application of electrodes using in electrochemical ozone production (EOP) was summarized. On the basis of the summarization, TiO2 doped PbO2 electrode was used as the anode in EOP in order to enhance the electrocatalytic activity and stability of the electrode.PbO2-matrix composites containing nano-grade TiO2 as dispersed phase have been obtained on Ti substrate using nano-composite plating technique and were applied to EOP. The results showed that the doping of TiO2 could increase the electrocatalytic activity of PbO2 electrodes in EOP by increasing the current efficiency from 11.9% to 12.9%, when the electrodes were prepared at the current density of 30mA/cm2 and electrodes gap distance of 3cm.The influence of current density(J), the particle radius of TiO2 and its concentration in electrodeposition solution, pH values of solution, the addition of surfactants and the crystal structure of TiO2 on the properties of doped electrodes were studied. The electrodes were characterized by XRD and XRF techniques and the results indicated, both the doped electrodes and pure PbO2 electrodes mainly haveβ-PbO2 crystals, and the incorporation of TiO2 particles did not affect the oriented growth of PbO2 but the radius of PbO2 crystals. The content of TiO2 was higher when the electrdoposition current density was lower. Relating the current efficiency (CE) of EOP results of the electrodes indicated high content TiO2 in PbO2 was not good to the electrocatalytic activity of the electrode. The particle radius of TiO2 had a great influence on the properties of the electrodes. In the research, the PT-501A TiO2(100nm) and self-produced TiO2(17nm) doped electrodes increased the CE of EOP by about 1%. According to the influence results of grinding time of self-produced TiO2 on the properties of the doped... |
