In the high temperature oxide ceramic family, alumina ceramic is a high-powered, all-purpose engineering ceramic with steady chemistry performance, high mechanical intensity and hardness, fine wearable performance. It is widely used in many realms, such as metallurgy, machine chemical, electronics, biology, aviation and national defense, etc. However, when high-alumina ceramic obtains high precision and low roughness by precision grinding, there are still lots of problems to be solved. So for the practical application of the high-alumina ceramic, it is all-important to analyze grinding characteristics of the high-alumina ceramic, to make sure the level of ductile grinding, and to choose suitable grinding method and processing parameter.This thesis analyzes the performance of high-alumina ceramic through an experiment, tests its hardness and fracture toughness, and analyzes its microstructure and substance structure as well. In consideration of its brittleness-ductility change, when the cutting depth of single grain less than the critical cutting depth of alumina ceramic, the material is wiped off with ductility in precision manufacturing by choosing suitable critical cutting depth.The principle of spherical surface generation manufacturing is researched in this thesis. The evidence of analyzing part geometry shape precision and ground surface pattern can be found out by studying spherical surface geometry characteristics, giving the surface profile height model and grain trajectory model of ground surface, and educing the pictures of the surface profile height and grain grinding trajectory through formulas.Grinding wheel sharp edge is utilized for researching the manufacturing methods of spherical surface generation and for analyzing its manufacturing technology. To complete the manufacturing process, such factors as putting angle of the grinding wheel, the size of parts and the size of the grinding wheel should be considered. Grinding wheel should be selected by considering manufacturing technology, machining parameters, and its making and mending. The manufacturing process and effect can be simulated by software. The influence and errors of manufacturing process should be considered the parameters such as angle, center height, X direction, and tool diameter.
