A lot of products are produced with stamping die. The quality of the products and the enterprises' ability to advance new products are influenced significantly by whether suitable stamping die is available. Stamping die CAD system greatly improves the quality and reduces the lead time of the products. However, most of the present die CAD systems are not practical either because they are not mature enough, or are two dimensional(2D) rather than three dimensional(3D) systems. The design of die components is the weak point of most existing die CAD Systems, which either leave this work to the designer, or automate this course only for limited kinds of components. Hence, this thesis makes a research on the technology concerning the designing of die components and developing a knowledge-based stamping die CAD prototype system, which results in following achievements.(1) A means is established for representing the knowledge involved in the die component structure design based on the analysis and categorization of related knowledge. The functional model and software architecture for the knowledge based stamping die component design system are built.(2) Based on the research on die components design process and implementation of die CAD, an idea is advanced that convert the design of working components to punching a series of predefined holes on relevant plates and then adding suitable attachments, which enables the system to automatically generate working components related structures for cutting edges.(3) A methodology for building 3D parametric component library based on Autodesk Inventor is introduced. Under which the system is divided into two levels which are part library level and assembly library level. Determining the structure of a component through its assembly model and dimension of each composing part through database tables and program, this methodology solves the problem that popular 3D CAD software dose not directly support parametric dimensional driving for assembly, and thereby enables the building of component library system based on...
