With the development of the super-abrasive grinding wheels such as diamond wheels, they have got a higher performance and a longer life, and great changes have been taken placed in the grinding industry; The super-abrasive wheel has the widespread application prospect in precise, ultra-precise grinding, difficult to process the material to take shape, the highly effective grinding and in the grinding automation. Because of the ultrahigh hardness of super-abrasive wheels, the conventional mechanical truing and dressing methods based on force interaction are nearly impossible to meet the requirement for grinding process, which really affects the grinding performance of super-abrasive wheels. Is brings us more difficulties in dressing super-abrasive wheel. As a result, it so important and necessary to study the dressing and truing technology of the super-abrasive wheel. A new method which called laser truing and dressing based on thermal interaction, has attracted much attention all over the world.Based on both numerical simulation and experimental investigation, this thesis has done much research work on bronze-bonded diamond grinding wheel., and then analysis and research it truing and dressing by acoustic-optic Q-switched pulsed laser. Firstly, the experiment of a single pulse ablation on a bronze-bonded diamond wheel has been carried out. The single pulse ablation depth in different laser parameters has been measured by light-section instrument, and the relationship between the ablated depth and some different laser ablating parameters such as laser intensity, power intensity, repetition frequency and focal position, has been analyzed. The ablated topographies of the wheel were observed by SEM, which give me instruction to parameter choice. Next, it has carried on to the bronze-bonded diamond grinding wheel in the different laser and craft parameter in testing research, analyzed the truing and dressing topographies in each kind of experimental parameter by XTZ-10ST video microscope, and then obtained the appropriate laser parameters to truing and dressing wheel.According to the test result, it analyzed the bronze-bonded diamond grinding wheel truing and dressing mechanism by laser, and established the truing and dressing mathematical model.
