Acyl-containing polysulfides were designed and synthesized under room temperature. Sulfur content were identified by the elemental analysis. The extreme pressure, anti-wear and friction-reducing properties of them as additives in biodegradable lubricant-rapeseed oil(RSO) were estimated on the four-ball tester and the relationship between molecular structures and their tribological behaviors were also concluded based on the experimental results which indicated that obtained acyl-containing polysulfides resulted in increase of PB value compared to that of RSO;The antiwear behaviors of four acyl-containing polysulfides were different in the light of variations in additive concentrations:BDBS showed great anti-wear behavior under 0.5wt.% while worsened the wear behavior of the base stock above 1wt.% ,the anti-wear behavior of BOTS changed gently with the increased concentration, in addition ,BOOS performed better anti-wear behavior than the others at higher concentration (2wt.%~3wt.%). In order to get a comprehensive understanding of the action mechanism for the additives, the worn scar...
