So far, thin-walled tube NC precision bending process has been deeply studied by using numerical method combining with analytical and experimental methods. Mass scientific data and experiential knowledge are accumulated. Due to the complexity of tube NC bending process, to develop an engineering database and manage forming information in order to share and reuse valuable data and knowledge has become one of important subjects in realizing digital manufacture of thin-walled tube NC precision bending process. Thus, a database management system TUBE has been studied and developed in the paper. A brief introduction to the project and its main achievements are as follows.(1) User commands have been summarized, and then the design principle and programming frame have been determined. The key techniques and corresponding solutions have been proposed: â‘  The pre-forming module integrating data management with simulation has been designed; â‘¡Mass data have been collected and sorted. Three datasheets including material parameter, processing parameter and results have been designed by considering the completeness of the data obtained, which simplifies the relationship of the data; â‘¢The storage and calling of defects knowledge have been considered. The production rule of condition-result has been used in the program design for acquiring the corresponding solving method according to different defects knowledge, which could provide a quick and effective guide to the practice.(2) User-friendly interface has been developed based on Visual Studio.NET developing environment. Encapsulation feature of object-oriented programming language C# has been used to realize the functions of query, addition, modification, deletion and effective link between Visual Studio.NET and datasheets in SQL Server. It is convenient to add new datasheets without modifying the existing C# code. Moreover, different finite element simulation softwares could be called in the pre-forming design.
