Study Of Post-Processing Technology Of 5-Axis CNC Programming Based On CATIA

Along with the 5-axis CNC machine tools increased gradually and continuously improve the function of NC programming software. Many manufacturers are using CNC technology to process some complex parts, greatly improving the efficiency and accuracy. However, 5-axis NC programming has many problems.One key reason is the lack of the special post processor which served as a bridge between CAM soft wares and CNC machine tools.This paper takes the MODIMILL 4L milling Machining Center as the object of study, and develops the special post-processing software CMSPP based on CATIA platform in VC++6.0 language. Firstly, this article in view of the CATIA CLSF, elaborated this software post-processing way, the operating mode of the three principles, and has given the explanation to this software overall constitution; Secondly, after having analysised and researched thoroughly how the CATIA/CAM module creates the APTSOURCE file and its format, the rules of CNC milling machining center MODIMILL 4L, FIDIA PowerXP20'system and the coordinate transformation of the machine tool, we programmed the code of CMSPP special post-processing software and compiled the interface based on the dialog box pattern which the fine outward appearance, is easy to operate; Finally, from machining practice, the NC program by the post-processing program can be run in the machining center to machine the part.The result from this study can be applied in the deduction of algorithm of other kinds of mode of 5-axis CNC machine tools for reference and provides clues for development ofpost-processing of other CAD/CAM.
