Energy is the motive force of development of economics, is the physical foundation of modern civilization. So, to use energy reasonably is very important in any field. In some chemical industry enterprises, for the low technology level at the time they were built, the heat exchanger network was poorly designed which led to the waste of energy. Now as technology is developed, at the beginning of setting up a new chemical factory, it is required to comprehensively design the heat exchanger network based on nowadays sophisticated design method of heat exchanger network.There are all kinds of heat exchanger network design method, such as decomposing approach, heuristic structuring, branch and bound synthesis, tree searching algorithm, optimal assignment in linear programming, artificial intelligence, pinch technology, and so on. Pinch technology is widely used in practice.Pinch technology is first put forward by Pro. Linnhoff. It combines the theory of thermodynamics and systematic engineering to know the using and recycling of systematic energy of the process and to optimize them. Pinch technology is uncomplicated, and gives effective result. It is popular in energy industry. Based on deeply understand of PROBLEM-TALBE algorithm which is a well-known algorithm of pinch calculation, we forward a fast PROBLEM-TALBE algorithm, less steps, all results in one table.In the process of designing heat exchanger networks, there is a lot of numerical calculation. Now computer, signal communication and web technology are developed in high speed. It is practicable to use computer to simplify this process.The author studied, analyzed and used pinch technology, unique synthesis method of optimal heat exchanger network, Browser/Server architecture system and Java-based J2EE platform technology to design and implement a Web-based Internet Chemical Process heat exchanger network design system The highlight of this system is the Browser/Server architecture that fits for the present computer technology andnetwork system, compared with the traditional stand-alone desktop software of the computer-aided heat exchanger network design.This system has following main functions: calculating pinch, ploting T-H composite curve chart, giving result of sketch chart of heat exchanger network. The designing system has the advantage of safety, efficiency, easily maintaining and upgrading. Its use in the design of heat exchanger network will greatly make this process convenient.
