Fine-blanking traditional process pressed by blank holder with teeth is very complicated, and it need to use expensive triple action presses, that limit its application, so it is necessary to develop a new and simple process to replace the complicated traditional process. Fine blanking process with tool of stepped edges can make high quality parts by choosing parameters and can be implemented on common press. The cost is lower than traditional process but the research and application in industry of it is hardly visible. In this paper, the main work is to study how parameters that impact the blanking such as the negative clearance, optimum clearance, height and width of stepped edges by using finite element method. Taking experiment on the Q235, copper, in the condition of positive clearance is 0.04 mm and width of stepped edges is 1.2 mm the negative clearance between 30% and 40% of the thickness depend on the finite element method conclusion. The sheet thickness is between 3 mm to 8 mm, and the parts with perfect burnish zone are made successfully.Result shows when the reasonable parameters matched in optimum clearance is 0.5%~2% of thickness, the negative clearance is 15%~30% of thickness and height of the stepped edges is 20%~30% of thickness the high quality burnish zone section will be achieved, and parts are separated successfully.
