Manganese(III) acetate is a chemical reagent with extraordinary worthiness of research as a complexing reagent. In recent years, the applications of manganese(III) acetate in organic synthesis have become a new research focus. The reactions of free-radical induced by manganese(III) acetate have several advantages such as the quick speed of reaction, chemical selectivity, region selectivity and solid selectivity, so it is a kind of synthesis reagents with considerable applicable value and applicable prospect. Since manganese(III) acetate has many special properties with which other reagents can't compare, it attracts lots of foreign scholars to research. With the development of the field of such researches, many new chemical reactions were discovered, some new application fields were exploited, especially in the synthesis of heterocyclic compounds, natural organics and compounds with biological activities, manganese(III) acetate plays a very important role in the synthesis of them, and exploit the application field of metal organic chemistry.This article mainly discussed the synthesis of a series of heterocyclic compounds in the presence of manganese(III) acetate, studied the mechanism of free-radical reactions induced by manganese(III) acetate and did compare under different conditions. Several compounds with the structure of 1,2-dioxane were synthesized using 1,1-diarylethene derivatives and 1,3-dicarbonyl compounds. With the reaction of alkylation and bromation, preparations of compounds bearing a 1,2-dioxane ring and O-, N-, S- atom containing heterocycles were demonstrated. Also the mechanism of the reaction and the reason of the yield of by products were discussed; Since ultrasonic has great catalytic activities on metal-mediated reactions, we synthesized 1,2-dioxane derivatives under ultrasonic, got target products successfully. The structure characterization proved that ultrasonic surely catalyze the reaction in the presence of manganese(III) acetate, shorten the time of reaction greatly; We also synthesis a series of 2-(lH-benzoimidazol-2-yl)-phenol derivatives with fluoresce. The fluorescent characteristics of all the compounds synthesized were measured including the absorption, emission spectra and quantum yield. The influence of the properties of fluoresce created by substituting groups, the creation of three tautomers and the two types of fluoresce created by them were also discussed and analysed, meanwhile, the next development of this research was anticipated.
