With the fast development of industry, the demand for coal is becoming greater and greater. In order to accommodate the demand of fast economic development for energy, the mechanization and automation of coal exploitation process is demanded to increase productivity, decrease inefficiency, induce cost, cut down workload, improve labor condition and lessen contingency. So, the study of updated laneway roadheader has great significance.This paper mainly analyzes in depth the hydraulic control system of the classic-type roadheader AM-50. Based on this analysis, the betterment on electrical-hydraulic proportional valve of the hydraulic system and model-choosing computation on the components of the hydraulic system are carried out. Secondly, the mathematical model of the improved hydraulic system is established. MATLAB software and AMESim software are used to carry out open-loop control and PID control simulation, the simulation results indicates the improved hydraulic control system has excellent dynamic response characteristics and good control characteristics. Finally, the control theory of the cantilever roadheader's section figuration is deduced and the mathematical models of three standard sections (trapezoid, rectangle and arch) are established. Based on these math models, Guide in MATLAB is utilized to set up the interface and program for the cutting route simulation about the three standard sections. The consistency between the simulation result and the actual cutting routes shows that the established mathematical models are correct.By the theoretical study on the hydraulic control system of AM-50 roadheader, the automation of current roadheader is elevated. This provides another way for the automation of coal exploitation and also offers reference for the betterment of similar systems. The deducing process for basic theory and control simulation research provides beneficial exploration for the cantilever roadheader's section figuration of automatic.
