In order to survey the influence of the propertics of neutral ligands on the structures of metal sulfonates, two kinds of sulfonate anions ligands((1,5-nds=1,5-naphthalenedisulfonate, 2,6-naphthalenedisulfonate) and two kinds of neutral ligand (bpp=1,3-bis(4-pyridyl)propane, bipy=4,4'-bipyridine) are employed. Five novel metal sulfonate containing bpp and bipy ligands have been synthesized successfully: Herein, we describe the details of the preparation and characterization of the five novel metal sulfonate polymers containg bpp and bipy: {[Co(bpp)2(H2O)4] (1,5-nds)·H2O}n(1), {Ni(bpp)2(H2O)2](1,5-nds)}n (2),{[Ag2(bpp)2 (1,5-nds)]·H2O}n(3), {[Co(bipy)(H2O)4](1,5-nds)}n (4),{[Co(bipy)1.5(H2O)4](bipy)0.5(2,6-nds)·H2O }n(5)All the crystal structures have been determined by X-ray single crystal diffraction, and the five compounds self-assembled into multidimensionalites via hydrogen-bonding andπ-πsupramolecular interactions.
