At present, most silicon and stainless strip steel is rolled by Sendzimir Mill mostly in China. There are 4 first intermediate rolls included in 20-rolls system of Sendzimir Mill. Quenching technology is the pivotal problem of the homemade research on Sendzimir Mill intermediate roll. There are many questions on the research including that un-perfect quenching technology, un-steady quenching quality, and un-automatically control system.The task of this paper is research the quenching technology of the Sendzimir Mill intermediate roll and research the correlative automatic control system in order to ensure that the devised quenching technology goes on steady and automatically and to achieve the expected performance index, thus to provide a dependable technical guarantee for realizing the mass production of this intermediate roll quenching producing lines and the homemade research on Sendzimir Mill intermediate roll.This paper mainly research the following three aspects: Firstly,perfect quenching technology is studied according to the given material and the technology of medium frequency electrical-magnetic induction heating is adopted, then the optimal quenching temperature is obtained through the methods of hardness test and metallographic analysis. Secondly,the computer FEM simulation method with the ANSYS software is introduced in the technology design of quenching, which could enable us to carry out a numerical simulation for the quenching process temperature field. So the blindness of quenching experiment could be decreased and the adjusting times for quenching technology could be shorten. Therefore the development cycle could be reduced largely. Finally,the paper designed and realized a control system for the quenching technology based on PLC. After being compiled the control software and adjusting the technology parameter, an automatic control for the quenching process of the intermediate roll was attained at last.A test of production on the worksite was carried out by adjusting the technology parameter, the result shows that: the technology design of quenching is an effective method and achieved the expected performance index; the control system can work steady and make sure the technology run accurately according to the program worked out.
