3D biaxial spacer weft knitted reinforced fabric, linking two knitted fabric layer by yarns and then forming a spacer knitted fabric layer, is a tridimensional, intact and continuous structure. With multi-axial fibres, especially fibres in thickness direction in existence, it overcomes the phenomenon of delamination, which results in it being widely used in the field of marine, vehicle and so on. Under transverse impact, the response of material is different from that of quasi-static due to the invalidation of structure response. Because literatures referring to this field are few, it is necessary to study the dynamic response of 3D biaxial spacer weft knitted reinforced fabric composites by Hopkinson bar.The transverse impact of 3D biaxial spacer weft knitted reinforced fabric composite was performed with split Hopkinson pressure bar (SHPB). The load vs. displacement history of the composites with different impact velocities was obtained. The peak load and corresponding displacement both increase with the increasing of impact velocity. The energy absorption of the composite also increases with the increasing of impact velocity. The matrix crack, fiber pullout and interface debonding are the main failure mode for transverse impact loading. The composite has no delamination for transverse impact loading. In addition, ABAQUS was employed to simulate the dynamic response of the 3D biaxial spacer weft knitted reinforced fabric composite under transverse impact. This investigation created a user-defined material subroutine to enhance the damage simulation. The results obtained in experiments corresponded to that of the numerical simulations in despite of some small errors which conduced by dispersing stress wave in experiments, uneven specimens, imprecise unit model and parameter of material.
