Numerical control auto-programing includes two processes, namely Pre-processing and Post-processing. Pre-processing is a procedure which creates three dimensional model for processed object using CAD/CAM, generates Cutter Location File (CLF) using graphical interaction method and executes simulation and interference-collision check for the process.Post-processing is also a procedure which converts the CLF generated by Pre-processing into NC program, according to the characteristic of NC machine tool and the format of NC program defined by NC system. The main technology of Post-processing includes machine kinematics modeling and its solution, compensating the errors of machine construction, checking and revising the errors of non-linear machine movement, checking and revising the stationarity of machine movement, checking and revising the feed speed and code conversion etc.Post-processing is a very important part of CAD/CAM intergration system, which directly affects the effectiveness of CAD/CAM application. The valid Post-processing plays an important role in manufacturing. It can ensure the quality and efficiency of manufacturing and make the machine tool work reliably.The following points are the main contents of this paper.1) According to the different implementation of two rotational coordinate, five-axis machine tool is divided into three types, namely dual rotary tables, dual swing heads and swing head with rotary table. Based on the above types, this paper respectively caculates the machine kinematics and constructs the models which are used to caculate the rotary angles and transormate the coordinates for post-processing.2) Based on the peculiarity of water-jet cutting machine, this paper constructs the mathematical model about compensation of cutter length and compensation of cutter center under the five-coordinate system.3) Utilizing the above models, this paper develops the special post-processing program for water-jet cutting machine with C++ language. And through the test of pratical process, we get the satisfying results that meet the process requirements.
