The polyelectrolyte membranes were prepared by the sol-gel process. The startingmaterial sodium alginate was linked by Ca2+and the chitosan. The physical chemistrycharacteristics of CS-SA membranes were inverstigated by XRD,IR,SEM. Themembrane appeares ion select and permeability, which could prevented FeO42- throughcathode room. Using CS-SA membrane as septum, after 2-hour electrolysis, 43.5mmol·L-1 FeO42- was generated and the corresponding current efficiency was 29.8%.FeO42- acted as an oxidant in the electrosynthesis of benzaldehyde in the form of FeO42-/Fe3+. The results showed that 60% electrolyses yield of benzaldehyde.Nano-MnO2 in cell was electro-generated in MnSO4/H2SO4 bulk solution underthe ultrasounic wave, and was used as a mediator to select oxidation of benzaldealcohol to benzaldehyde. The experimental results indicated that the current efficiencyof electrolysis and the yield of benzaldehyde was promoted under ultrasoundirradiation. The increase of reaction temperature enhanced both of the reaction yieldsof benzahyde and current efficiency. The results showed that 88.9% electrolyses yieldofbenzaldehyde and 75% current efficiency were obtained, respectively.
