In this contribution, graphite particles were first dispersed in the water using OP-10 dispersant and ultrasonic, and then mixed with PVA. The Graphite/PVA complex fiber was obtained through wet spinning. Fiber sections were observed by SEM, and it was noticed that the graphite particles were separated in the fiber, and denser near the surface. Tests of Electrical and mechanical properties revealed that as the content of graphite rising, both the breaking intensity and volume resistance decreased. For example, when the graphite content is 15%, the volume resistance is 3.98×1011Ω·cm., and the breaking intensity is 3.16cN/dtex. While when the graphite content is 24.5%, the volume resistance is 1.0×1011Ω·cm., and the breaking intensity is 1.15cN/dtex..In order to improve the conductivity of the fiber, PVA fibers were swelling by water before being immersed in aniline. Aniline was then polymerized inside the fiber and formed compound conductive layer. Thus, higher conductivity Aniline/PVA compound fiber was prepared. SEM observation revealed that PANI particles exhibits various morphologies in the fiber, and the dispersing density changes in different regions. Fiber sections were examined by TEM, and it was found that small particles were intend to aggregate around the big ones, and form bigger particles. When studying the volume resistance of the fiber, it was found that when the nascent fibers were stretched two times longer, polymerization temperature is 0℃, the molarity of HCl is 1mol/L,the consistency of APS is 1 %, and reacting time was 5 hours, the volume resistance reaches the lower point (2.26Ω·cm); During polymerization, when the concentration of hydrochloric acid is enough low, it would have little effect on the volume resistance of the fiber; It was noticed that the effect of reacting time is also small. When PVA/PANI compound fiber was washed by water or thermal solidified, its volume resistance would increase for 100~1000 times, which was caused by the removing of a small amount of hydrochloric acid. The mechanical property study of the fiber displayed that after polymerization, the breaking intensity of the compound fiber become far lower than that of PVA fiber. When the compound fiber was heat treating, its breaking intensity was largely increased, that is, from 0.93cN/dtex to 1.82cN/dtex.
