The ramie content in blended textiles with cotton and ramie fiber is important to the fabric texture and the product price, so it is important to identify the fiber content of the blended textiles. At present, the microscope method is widely used but low effective, time-consuming, and also intensively relied on the subjective judgment of the operators. To seeking one kind of method with automatic, fast objective, accurate properties is a problem not only to the inspection department and production enterprise urgently in China, but also in the world. Up to now, there are many studies on it, but the automation and the identify result is not very good.Used three dimensional automatic identification system of cotton and ramie fibers in longitudinal view (abbreviation three dimensional automatic identification system) which was developed by our research group independently, we tested 19 kinds of cotton fibers from different countries and 3 kinds of ramie fibers from different regions of China to investigate the accuracy and the stability of this system. The factors to identify cotton or ramie fiber based on the system were analyzed and some measures to improve this system were given. The experimental showed that the measures were effective to correctly identify cotton or ramie fiber. At the same time, the method of making slice as well as the sample capacity researched. The conclusions were drawn as the followings:1. Three dimensional automatic identification system of cotton and ramie fibers in longitudinal view can correctly identify the cotton fiber and ramie fiber which got from different countries or regions, and the accurate rate average to be bigger than 93%.2. The stability of the system is good while the different operators tested the same sample in different time.3. The main factors that infected identifying cotton or ramie fiber were the best position of the fiber in the image when the fibers crossed, the focus scope of the first image was not enough to make the image clear and other factors that during the process of the making the sample, for example the immature fiber, the damage of the fiber and so on.4. The experimental showed that the effective measures to correctly identify cotton or ramie fiber was to choose the best position of the fiber in the image, to add the focus scope of the first image, to choose the slides in the high quality, to decrease the destroy of the fiber and so on .5. Study on the cutting method and the length of the cotton and ramie fiber, the experimental showed that the method of cutting the fiber in certain length by the guillotine is effective to keep the longitudinal characteristic of the fiber. And forecast the more reasonable length of the fiber is 1.5mm.6. Experimental showed that the number of the fiber is at least 200 basedon three dimensional automatic identification system.
