Ladle refining technique is one of the primary secondary refining methods at the present time. Along with the development of metallurgy industry, the operation condition of ladle refining increasingly rigor, the requirement for slag-line is higher and higher. Producing mild steel, super mild steel and the trend of full unshaped ladle-liner press for opening out magnesia castable which is the same with slag-line.The paper simply introduced the developing actuality of magnesia castable. According to experimentation we conclude that if using fused magnesia as primary material, 3 percent magnesium chloride as adhesive, and adding titania as the additive, magnesia castable can obtain favorable fluidity, proper concreting velocity , high intensity , avoiding the crazing problem result from magnesia hydration ,a less linear variety of sintered samples. For instance: cold crushing strength, room temperature bending strength, high temperature bending strength, bulk density, apparent porosity, endurance slag ability and so on .In this paper, MgCl2·6H2O as adhesive has been discussed. At high temperature, magnesia is formed with fine activity, which is better to sinter. And with the mass increment of MgCl2·6H2O, samples have a great elevation after sintering. The relationship is attained of additive and strength after high temperature sinter. The optimum mass is about 3 percent. It is better to resist erosion of magnesia castable introduced titania. If there were titania spreading around magnesia castable, erosion resistance index has a decreased trend with the increment mass, and percolate resistance index has a fine trend.
