The thermal deformation of machine tools is blocking the improvement of machining Accuracy. The thermal control technology is one of the key technologies which is urgent to be solved. As the core component of machine tools, the design of spindle system plays an important part in the machine tools development process. The new product HTM850G, which is developed by Ningbo Haitian Group Company is chosen to be the research object .This paper built the thermal and thermal deformation model of the spindle system, and researched the method of solving thermal deformation of the spindle system. Considering the influence of thermal contact resistance, the method of solving thermal deformation is proposed.The main content of this paper are as follows:1. The calculation model of thermal contact resistance is built and the influencing factors are discussed. The semi-empirical calculation model suitable for practical application is proposed, and it is used to calculate the thermal contact resistance on contact area in spindle system.2. The numerical calculation for temperature field is built, and based on elastic mechanics, thermal deformation equation and finite element theory, the calculation model is built. The method of thermal-structure coupling analysis is proposed.3. Based on the working parameters and working conditions of machine tools ,the value of boundary condition and heat resource is calculated. And the process of model building and analysis technology by ANSYS is discussed.4. The models with thermal contact resistance and without it are both calculated, and the results got from the models are compared .The obvious impact on the calculation result is verified. And the results are compared with the test result. It is proved the new model is more reliable.5. Based on the result of thermal field analysis, the thermal deformation analysis of spindle system is operated. By comparing the calculation result with experiment result, the accuracy of model is verified. In order to optimizing the structure of spindle system, the effective plan for improving the thermal character of spindle system is proposed.
