The end-point control of matte converting process can be defined as using process characteristic informations to infer the best copper venting opportunity. It is a very important operation in matte converting process, affecting the copper quality directly. Currently, we still depend on artificial judgment to decide end-point in practice. This method so relies on experience level that it is difficulty to be standardized and unable to be carried out online by automatic control. Thus, it becomes more and more unsatisfied with the production request of modern industry.In view of this difficulty that modern copper metallurgical industry urgently needing to resolve, this article took datas witch gained from P-S converter's practical product operation in GUIXI Smelting Plant as a foundation, and based on Model Predictive Control (DMC) arithmetic designed a kind of end-point definite value track forecast model in matte converting process. This model can be used to carry on assistant judgment in the end-point control.1. On the foundation of comprehensive research in matte converting process, the article inferred the forecast model, feedback adjustment equation and the optimum control law of end-point control, established the end-point definite value track forecast model in matte converting process with DMC arithmetic. It can carry out forecast towards the converting end-point control. By simulating and anti-interference analyzing, we proved that this control strategy brought obvious accuracy and rapidity in predicting matte converting end-point. It had good dynamic performance, strong anti-interference capability. So it satisfied the request of actual product craft.2. On the foundation of detaily material analysis, the article considered a mass of actual product condition and established the statistical model of oxygen consumption capacity and oxygen usage modulus by using metallurgy material balance principle. It acted on verifying output result of the forecast model. Validate by simulation test, the forecast probability of this model had achieved 85.2%. It could supervise the end-point judgment availably, avoided inaccurate operation of scant converting or over converting and reduced industrial accident. Thus it can be said that the end-point definite value track forecast model with DMC arithmetic had important theory significance and practical value for raising the whole operational level in matte converting process.
