| Our country is burned coal country primarily,and nearly a hundred million tons of fly ash is discharged. A large amount of fly ash is piled up,not only holds a lot of land but also has great harm for the givironment. It is an important path to exploitage synthetically to manufacture haydite with fly ash.In this paper,the chemical and physical properties and mineral components of fly ash coals are mentioned. We take active part in studying the other process which could avoid burning stage on basis of the local raw material.Take active part in studying the other process which could avoid burning stage on basis of the local raw materil. Through experiments,based on the nature of fly ash and cement,selected the compound activator to active fully their hydration activity.They need to be churned,sophered,natural maintenanced and so on,thus make the specific surface area and the light weight ceramsite.Effect of sintering point, light quality material contentand adherent content to the characters of ceramisite made from fly ash are found through experiment.Through experiments,the rational ratio of fly ash, cement and the other material and conditions are confirmed. Performance of the ceramisite made from fly ash is tested and analyzed,this kind of ceramsite can follow the national regulation.Biological Aerated Filters (BAFs)with biofilm media of ceramisite made from fly ash and ceramisite for comparison are designed to treat the simulated wastewater. When the inflow COD and NH3-N are 187.3～299.2 mg/L and23.2～39.4mg/L, the average eficiency is about 85.9% and93.8 % respectively. So it is feasible to be biofilm carrier in BAF for ceramisite made of fly ash.Utilize fly ash to prepared the ceramsite of water treatment,not only effectively utilized fly ash ,but also relieve the in short situation of urban water, at aim to comprehensive resource utilization and dispose waste by waste,has obvious economic returns and social efects.
