High speed machining (HSM) is a new comprehensive technique, which integrating Material Science with Engineering Mechanics, Information Science, Cybernetics and Manufacturing Technology. As one of critical techniques, Tool system between High speed machine and cutting tool effects quality and efficiency of HSM directly, and draws much attention of national and international scholars. HSK tool system, which is developed in Germany, has been one of the most popular and promising tool systems in HSM because of its outstanding performance and opening degree. It has important theoretical and practical significance to carry out essence and application study of HSK tool system.Using numerical simulation and theoretical analysis, the critical performance, design manufacture and applications of HSK tool system were researched. The major contributions of this dissertation were as follows:1. Major influencing factor of HSK interface stiffness was analyzed, and change law of HSK interface stiffness was revealed. The research shows that the high stiffness performance of HSK relates with reliable clamping between faces mainly. Under high speed machining, too much magnitude of interference between tapers can not improve the stiffness of HSK tool system.2. Precision design study of critical dimension of HSK tool system was developed. The results show that proper enlargement of interference fit range between spindle and shank can not influence major performance of HSK interface. The results are helpful to increase qualified rate and decrease production cost of HSK interface.3. Based on strength theory, the structure parameter optimization of HSK interface was carried out. Keyway structure of HSK interface was optimized by Pro/e software. As a result, Maximum stress of structure decreases almost ten percents.4. New calculation method of torsion load capacity was put forward. Based on the fact of cone connection between spindle and shank, traditional calculation method was abandoned. The research deduces friction torsion transfer formula of HSK interface by calculus.The research results enrich design theories of tool system in HSM, improve the ability of research and development on tool system in China, narrow the study gap on tool system between China and developed countries, and provide powerful technical supports on manufacturing and using of tool system in HSM.
