The situation for utilizing of titanium-bearing blast furnace slag comprehensively in Panzhihua Iron and Steel Company is systematically reviewed, based on full foundation of physical and chemical characteristics Ti-bearing blast furnace slag, involved with the selective enrichment and growth, then separation the carbonitridation from titanium-bearing slag. Moreover, the residual slag can be used for cement, pavement, etc. after Ti(C, N) is separated from carbonitrized slags. So it may be an innovative approach for the comprehensive utilization of titanium-bearing blast furnace slag in Panzhihua Iron and Steel Company. The research work is summarized as follows:Based on thermodynamic analysis, carbothermal reduction process was carried out in nitrogen atmosphere according to titanium-bearing blast furnace slags in Panzhihua Iron and Steel Company. The pase evolution and microstructure of the products were investigated by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscope (SEM). It was found that the final products mainly consist of Ti(C, N) in nitrogen atmosphere. The results showed the better technical conditions are that nitriding temperature is 1500℃, isothermal treatment time is 2 hours, and carbon ratio is 1. The average grain size of Ti(C, N) is about 4μm in this experiment condition.In the experiment we found that titanium carbonitiride had the tendency that concentrates around the iron. It can obtain good target with magnetic separation, when the additive Fe2O3 and CaF2 was joined about 7.2% and 3%. Effect of different grinding fineness and different magnetic strength influence the magnetic separation experiment. When the grinding fineness -0.074mm about 80% and the magnetic circuit is 1.3A(150mT), has obtained the production rate is 26.26%, the concentrate of Ti(C,N) contains 36.46%, the recovery of Ti(C,N) is 43.77%. The concentrate of Ti(C,N) contains above 41.22%, the recovery of Ti(C,N) is 24.01% after high magnetic strength.The experiments have been done, such as the artification of gehlenite and titanium carbonitiride, the flotation of gehlenite and titanium carbonitiride, the measurement of voltage of surface of titanium carbonitiride, the research of infrared spectra, the flotation of mixed minerals and magnetic separation of modification slags.The results show that the dosage of dodecylamine have relatively low selectivity, and petroleum sodium sulfonate have greater collecting power than sulphonates, and sulphonates have lower selectivity than petroleum sodium sulfonate. We need increase some of inhibitor beacase petroleum sodium sulfonate have lower selectivity. Sodium hydroxide have greater suppression of Ti(C,N). We also need increase some of inhibitor beacase MYR1 have lower selectivity. The results show that sodium hexametapospate have greater suppression than dosage of water glass.Based on flotation of aitification gehlenite and titanium carbonitiride, we carries on the flotation process of two kind of tailing ore. The results show that sulphonates have the best effect of the three flotation medicament on inverse flotation. The concentrate of Ti(C,N) contains 24.68%, the recovery of Ti(C,N) is 32.20% after the first magnitec seperation. The concentrate of Ti(C,N) contains 32.46%, the recovery of Ti(C,N) is9.04% after the second magnitec seperation. Floating modification slags with MYR1, has obtained the concentrate of Ti(C,N) contains 28.66%, the recovery of Ti(C,N) is 26.50% after the first magnitec separation, and the concentrate of Ti(C,N) contains 37.97%, the recovery of Ti(C,N) is 7.38% after the second magnitec separation. Finally, we can obtained three kind of titanium carbonitiride conceentrate, the Ti(C,N) concentrate respectively contains 28.66%,37.97% and 41.22%, the recovery of Ti(C,N) respectively is 26.50%,7.38% and 24.01%. And the total recovery of Ti(C,N) is 57.89%.
