Hydroreactive Mg matrix composite powders and A1 matrix composite powders attract much research interest as the fuel of new-style underwater propulsion system.In this paper,the surfaces of Mg powders were coated with modifier-A by physical vapor deposition method and fluidization technology,then modifier-A/Mg composite powders were coated with HTPB by solvent evaporation method.The composite powders were characterized by SEM,EDS,the results show that The HTPB/modifier-A/Mg composite powders are core-shell structure.modifier-B/Al composite powders,modifier-C/Al composite powders,NaF/Al composite powders,NaOH/Al composite powders,modifier-B/Mg composite powders,modifier-C/Mg composite powders were prepared by mechanical ball milling.These composite powders were characterized by SEM,EDS,XRD,the results show that the modifiers successfully combine with Al or Mg.The reaction between those composite powders and water were studied.The results show that,the hydroreactive rate of those Al matrix or Mg matrix composite powders much faster than the hydroreactive rate oral or Mg.At 80℃,when the modifier content is 6wt%,the hydrogen generated by the reaction between modifier-B/Al composite powders and water is 7 times as much as the hydrogen generated by the ieaction between Al powders and water in 10 minutes,The hydrogen generated by the reaction between modifier-C/Al composite powders and water is 5.7 times as much as the hydrogen generated by the reaction between Al powders and water in 10 minutes.The hydrogen generated by the reaction between NaF/Al composite powders and water is 3.5 times as much as the hydrogen generated by the reaction between Al powders and water in 10 minutes.The hydrogen generated by the reaction between NaOH/Al composite powders and water is 7.4 times as much as the hydrogen generated by the reaction between Al powders and water in 10 minutes.The hydrogen generated by the reaction between modifier-B/Mg composite powders and water is 35 times as much as the hydrogen generated by the reaction between Mg powders and water in 10 minutes.The hydrogen generated by the reaction between modifier-C/Mg composite powders and water is 16.4 times as much as the hydrogen generated by the reaction between Mg powders and water in 10 minutes.The hydrogen generated by the reaction between modifier-A/Mg composite powders and water is 18 times as much as the hydrogen generated by the reaction between Mg powders and water in 10 minutes.In addition,the results show that HTPB protect modifier-A/Mg composite powders by water at room temperature.
