Carbazole polymers have good photoelectric properties and it was widely used as organic photoelectronic functional materials. The research on carbazole polymers used in photoelectric material has become hot spot, such as organic photorefractive material and photoelectric photographic materials, et al. In this thesis, synthesis technology of Poly(N-vinylcarbazole) (PVK) and 2-(cardazol-9-yl) ethyl methacry late (CEM) and vinylcarbazoIe copolymers was discussed and characterized. Copolymerization reactivity ratio, the component content of copolymers and change of copolymers photoconductivity were studied.9-(2-chloroethyl) carbazole was prepared through phase transfer reaction with carbazole and dichloroethane as materials in 60℃. VinylcarbazoIe was prepared by dehydrochlorination of 9-(2-chloroethyl) carbazole. PVK was prepared from vinylcarbazoIe under the protection of nitrogen. The preparation process was simplified. PVK and the intermediate products were characterized by FT-IR, UV-vis, TG and XRD.Copolymerization of CEM and vinylcarbazoIe was studied and the copolymer was characterized. The structure of products was characterized by FT-IR and UV-vis. The component content of copolymers was measured by elemental analysis. Then, the reactivity ratio of each component of copolymers was calculated and the results showed that the reactivity ratio of CEM and vinylcarbazoIe was 0.637and 0.11, respectively. Glass transition temperatures (Tg) of copolymer were characterized by DSC and the results showed that Tg was decreased with the increasing of CEM. Photoconductivity of PVK and copolymer was measured by the photocurrent method and a comparison between photoconductivity of PVK and photoconductivity of copolymer was given. The results of photocurrent method showed that photoconductivity of copolymer were decreased with the increasing of CEM.
