As a new type of extinguishing agent, pyrotechnic aerosol-generating agent-EBM was of predominants up pressing fire performance than halon extinguishant. This paper makes introduction to the fire-extinguishing technique with EBM aerosol which is originated in China and received by fire fighting circles, focusing on its fire-extinguishing mechanism and application, and puts forward its developing orientation.1.Highly distributed solid particular tewas obtained when aerosol was released.It would corrode the metal materials and circuitplates when circumstance was humid,thus would cause bad effects to the instruments.The influence of temperature and relative humidity on solid particulate aerosol was studied,which reveals that the relative humidity of air is the main factor that affects hygro metricper formance.2.The ph value detection of fire extinguishing aerosols is helpful in developing new fire extinguishing agents. This ph value detecting method,which is different from oldones,remains unaffected by the fact ors such as the amount of water,absorbing time,and stagnant time of aerosols.This method of fersa better choice to compare theacidity and basicity among different fire extinguishing aerosols.3. The combustion performance of an aerosol fire extinguishing agent (EBM)is studied by the cone calorimeter. Smoking ratio , rate of heat release are analyzed, and the content of CO,CO2 and O2 are discussed when aerosol are forming. Experimental results show that the gases of CO,CO2 and O2 in burning process are harmless to human being.4. Pyrotechnically generated aerosol (PGA) fire extinguishing agent is a kind of new fire extinguishing material with excellent fire suppressing performance.Cormlion of the products of PGA fire extinguishing agent to four kinds of metal materials was studied. Qualitative and quantitative results were analyzed, and the correspondin; corrosive levels were evaluated. Experimental results show that the corrosion to the metals is very small in the shoe time (<8h) when relative humidity is less than 55%, and it gets worse with time and increase of relative humiditv.
