Several kinds of cationic asphalt emulsifier were synthesized in this paper. The optimum reaction condition was obtained by the close investigation of various factors that influence the reaction yield. The structures of the products were identified by FTIR. The emulsifiers' specification was investigated in the mixing test with rock material.The series of asphalt emulsifiers of N-acetoxy-N'-octadecyl-propylenediamine hydrochloride acid salt were synthesized by the reaction of alkyldiamine with chloroacetic acid. Its structure was identified by FTIR. The optimum reaction condition was obtained by the close investigation of various factors that influence the synthesis reaction. The CMC of the emulsifiers and the surface tension at CMC were determined by the surface tension method. The performance research indicates that the series of emulsifiers have good emulsifying ability to asphalt, but the stability of the asphalt emulsion is not good.The series of asphalt emulsifiers of N,N-(2-hydroxypropyl)(acetoxy)-N'-octadecyl-propylenediamine hydrochloride acid salt were synthesized by the reaction of alkyldiamine, 1,2-epoxypropane and chloroacetic acid. Its structure was identified by FTIR. The optimum reaction condition was obtained by the close investigation of various factors that influence the synthesis reaction. The CMC of the emulsifier and the surface tension at CMC were determined by the surface tension method. The performance research indicates that the series of emulsifiers have good emulsifying ability. The emulsion is stable during storage. The breaking velocity of the emulsion is moderate while mixing with rock material. The emulsifier belongs to slow breaking rapid setting emulsifier.The series of asphalt emulsifiers of octadecylamidopropyl acid were synthesized by the reaction of octadecylamine with acrylic acid. The optimum reaction condition was obtained by the close investigation of various factors that influence the reaction. Its structure was identified by FTIR. The CMC of the emulsifier and the surface tension at CMC were determined by the surface tension method. The performance research indicates that the series of emulsifiers have good emulsifying ability to asphalt, but the stability of the asphalt emulsion is not good.A novel betaine-type emulsifier of 3-(N,N,N-dimethyl acetoxy ammonium chloride)-2-hydroxylpropyl stearate was synthesized by the reaction of stearic acid, epichlorohydrin, dimethylamine and chloroacetic acid. The synthesis process of 3-(N,N-dimethyl hydrochloric acid salt)-2-hydroxylpropyl stearate was investigated by on-line React IR. The React IR spectra of series of absorbed peak for characteristic function group changing with reaction time were obtained. The information of consumption of reactant and formation of objective substance was also obtained at the same time. The influence of alkaline catalyst on the reaction was discussed. It is indicated that the catalysis efficiency of NaOH is greater than that of KOH. It can also restrain the occurrence of side reaction. It is favorable to the reaction by adding certain amount of alkaline catalyst.
