WEDM can machine difficult processing materials and precision & complex parts, so it plays a key role in the course of new products research & development such as mechatronics, aerospace, ordnance industry, medical equipments, technology equipments, instruments and other industry fields. Especially, it takes up an extremely important position in the field of die & mould manufacturing. High-speed WEDM is domestic original technology, and has made gratifying progress in the machine structure, technology level, and process performances. But there are still significant gaps compared to low-speed WEDM in the areas of processing accuracy, reliability, stability, automation degree and others. With the in-depth study of artificial intelligence as well as the successful application in other manufacturing fields, intelligent methods supply important ways for WEDM research too. This topic will apply genetic algorithm, neural network and other intelligence technologies to the process parameters optimization of WEDM, research and develop the intelligent optional system of high-speed WEDM processing parameters.Firstly, this thesis summarized research status of domestic & international WEDM, pointed out the problems existing in high-speed WEDM and the ideas to resolve the specific issues, summed up the process principle and process features of WEDM, acquired the parameters data of WEDM process performances used second return general rotary unitized test design method. Secondly, established the non-linear regression optimization models of processing speed (Vm) and surface roughness (Ra), built the system models for prediction and optimization by RBF neural network, and achieved the results of process performances prediction given processing conditions and the results of processing parameters optimization set process performances by genetic calculation and network training. Finally, on the platform of Windows XP, developed the intelligent optional system software of high-speed WEDM processing parameters using VC++ & MATLAB mixed programming.This research results have provided an intelligent optional system software of WEDM processing parameters, which is simple, comprehensive, stable and reliable, fully meets the requirements of the scheduled functions. To test the functions of the system optimization, prediction and optimal selection, the results showed that the system had a certain applcation value in the industrial production because of high operation precision and good effect.
