Due to its lightweight, high specific strength and electronic shielding, magnesium alloy has been widely used as structural components in the aerospace, electronics, and automobile industry to replace some existing materials .Although the principal manufacturing process has been die casting, the plastic forming has considerable potential, because of its competitive productivity and mechanical performance. However, magnesium alloys have poor formability due to the hexagonal close-packed(HCP)crystal structure .it is a metallic material which has constantly been regarded as difficult to plastic deform and hard to shape by press forming. Traditional shaping method of magnesium alloy has not affection, it is one of method that magnesium alloy planet is shaped by the electromagnetism. So, it is very important to develop electromagnetic forming technology.Electromagnetic forming is a new kind of forming method with high energy and high forming velocity, by which the metal is loaded under strong impulse magnetic field and deformed plastically. Characterizes of electromagnetic forming are as follows: the mould is simple, the accuracy of forming is high, and the accuracy can be controlled. at the same time, it can increase plastic property of some materials. And the spring back and the pollution are very little. It can directly or indirectly finishes some process as follows: formation, assemblage, blanking, coining, welding and so on.This article take AZ31 magnesium alloy sheet as object of study, To test the mechanics properties and deep drawing performance of AZ31 magnesium alloy sheet. The main research of this dissertation is as follows. The result show that, under the room temperature, the mechanics properties and deep drawing performance of AZ31 magnesium alloy sheet are so poor that without an ideal forming and processing capacity.In this paper, based on the summarization and discussion of mechanics properties of AZ31 magnesium alloy sheet and general rule of electromagnetic forming. the author applied craft route and test equipment machine of electromagnetic forming with self-made electromagnetic forming on forming AZ31 magnesium alloy sheet.In the dissertation, according to the result of magnesium alloy sheet metal electromagnetic free forming on the self-made electromagnetic forming machine. The author analyze the affect of forming voltage, die structure, sheet thickness and coil to deformation, and influencing factor of forming quality and distortion rule of electromagnetic forming magnesium alloy sheet was preliminarily acquired.Based on the punch test and electromagnetic forming for magnesium alloy sheet, through the measure and recording of sheet limit strain. The author draw the forming limit Diagram (FLD)of electromagnetic forming process of magnesium alloy sheet. it offers the theoretical foundation for electromagnetic forming process of magnesium alloy sheet.
